About our organization
Cooperation for Social Improvement Organization (CSIO) is a civil, nongovernmental, nonpolitical & nonprofit organization, founded by a team of committed Afghan youth. CSIO was registered in the Ministry of Economics, by decision No (2486) dated 22.2.2012 and is entitled to work as an NGO in Afghanistan.
CSIO has experience of working with several international donors and partners including Counterpart International, CHECCHI, Colombo Plan, DAI, Internews, protectdefenders.eu, German cooperation, and AKDN and government or Afghanistan.
CSIO has experience working with several national NGOs including the Transparent Election Foundation of Afghanistan (TEFA), Afghan Human Rights Research and Advocacy Organization

The organization has been awarded as one of the hundred most effective Afghan CSOs by the Afghanistan government and Civil Society Joint Working Group – CSJWG and one of twenty outstanding youth organizations by the Ministry of Counter Narcotics - MoCN, the Ministry of Information and Culture – MoIC, Ministry of Education – MoE, Colombo Plan, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs – INL.

Child Protection
Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA)
Cooperation for Social Improvement Organization – CSIO educates, sensitizes, and engages communities, fait-based institutions, government, non-governmental stakeholders on child safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), prevention of under age marriage, whistle blowing on misbehavior or abuse, children life skills to flag misbehaves and abuses in target communities.
Children Nutrition
Cooperation for Social Improvement Organization – CSIO educates, sensitize and engages communities, fait-based institutions, government, non-governmental stakeholders on children nutrition in general, Infant and young child feeding, malnutrition, malnutrition prevention, malnutrition treatment and Micronutrients in target communities.
Children and WASH
Cooperation for Social Improvement Organization – CSIO educates, sensitize and engages communities, fait-based institutions, government, non-governmental stakeholders on safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation in target communities.
Access to Education
Children Education
CSIO is focused on the enrolment and retention of the most vulnerable children, those who are out of school -especially girls- and adolescents who have been left behind in formal education, we support the formal school system and the government’s Community-Based Education (CBE) program through establishing Community-Based Schools (CBSs), and Accelerated Schooling Facilities (ASFs). Additionally, we help to identify alternative pathways to learning and increase education opportunities for the hardest-to-reach.
Education for Elders
Cooperation for Social Improvement Organization – CSIO facilitates access to education for elders through the Community-Based Education (CBE) program by establishing Community-Based Schools (CBSs), Accelerated Schooling Facilities (ASFs), Adults Learning Centers (ALCs), and Basic Literacy Facilities (BLFs).
In addition, CSIO initiates Strengthening Families Programs (SPFs) to address sociocultural limitations, especially for women's education in the target communities to equip parents with knowledge and skills to facilitate education of their children and adolescents.
Further, CSIO facilitates access to funding and scholarships for the most vulnerable young girls who are forced to leave higher education due to financial limitations.
Economical Self-Reliance
Social Enterprises & Agribusinesses
Agriculture is the primary source of income for many communities and families in our country. In light of this, CSIO aims to promote social enterprises, particularly agribusinesses, to enhance employment opportunities, generate income, and improve livelihoods. The CSIO model is primarily focused on providing training and mentoring, business ideation, incubation support, and building markets.
Entrepreneurship and Startups
Modernization of communities, the introduction of new technologies , and the enhancement of public facilities bring new opportunities for Afghanistan to facilitate the introduction of new businesses especially in technology, green energy, minerals, mining industry, construction industry, and housing.
CSIO focuses on employment building through the promotion of entrepreneurship, and startups in the mentioned sector to facilitate economic self-reliance for citizens and communities as the most promising potential for national economic reliance.

Periodic Executives Election
Cooperation for Social Improvement Organization - CSIO conducted the periodic meeting of the board of directors through which Mr. Zabihullah Zahid was elected as the new executive director and Eng. Organizational Development Workshop
Cooperation for Social Improvement Organization - CSIO conducted an organization development workshop from 22 to 26 October 2022 to re-engineer its strategies, policies and procedures as per the new normal of the country. The workshop was attended by the top management of the organization, staff of the main office, and former employees of the organization.
